Sister Hesta

A widowed lay sister who keeps the monastery alive through work, fire, and stubbornness. Hesta is practical, sharp-eyed, and warm in the way of someone who has survived more than she says. Her husband lies buried in the monastery cemetery, and she could not bear to leave him behind.
