Sister Héloïse

Sister Héloïse

No Angels Came

"Lord, let Hell speak into my ear, and find no tongue with which to answer."

Héloïse serves as the unit’s interpreter, demonologist, and examiner of infernal communication. Her task is to identify entities through their speech, decipher contracts and corrupt scripture, recognize concealed names, and determine whether a demon is bargaining, commanding, deceiving, or merely buying time.

Infernal language is itself a vector of corruption. Héloïse had her own tongue cut out to prevent her from reproducing what she hears, allowing the squad to extract information without permitting hostile words to spread through a mortal voice.

She is among the least physically imposing members of the unit and among the most dangerous to underestimate. Héloïse observes everything, remembers almost everything, and frequently understands an enemy before it realizes she has done so.

Her habitual riddles, sketches, and irreverent humor are tolerated by command for a simple reason:

Morale is also a defensive measure.
