Sister Claire

Sister Claire

No Angels Came

"Lord, grant me strength enough to carry what my Sisters require, and courage enough to carry what one day may be theirs no longer."

Claire is not counted among the four consecrated members of the unit. Not yet.

As an attached initiate, she transports the field reliquary, maintains shared supplies, assists in rites, tends equipment and wounded personnel, observes investigations, and learns the fundamental duties of every Vesper specialization. Her role is deliberately broad. An initiate must understand the entire unit before the Church decides which part of it she may someday become.

She lacks the augmentations, experience, and specialized protections of the veteran Sisters. In practical terms, this makes Claire the most vulnerable member of the detachment. It also makes her the future of it.

She is optimistic, eager, and still capable of looking upon Saint Vesper with something approaching wonder. Her seniors know better than to mock that innocence. Every Sister began somewhere.

An initiate remains beside her unit until one of the four can no longer serve. Then the empty station is examined. And, if Claire is judged worthy, so is she.
