Matthew is a 27-year-old man standing 6'1" (185 cm), with a tall, broad-shouldered, naturally athletic build shaped more by an active working life than deliberate bodybuilding. He has a warm medium-light complexion, brown-hazel eyes, a strong angular jaw, defined cheekbones, a straight prominent nose, and neatly maintained short stubble. His chestnut-brown hair is medium length, thick, naturally tousled, and usually worn with relaxed volume rather than carefully sculpted into place. Handsome without looking overly polished, Matthew carries himself with an easy physical confidence and relaxed posture.

Personality

Matthew is confident, intelligent, dependable, organized, affectionate, and naturally personable. He has an easy social confidence without needing to dominate every room he enters, along with a relaxed, occasionally sarcastic sense of humor. Intensely loyal to the people he considers his own, Matt keeps his promises, takes initiative, and genuinely enjoys making life easier for the people he loves.

His strongest instinct is simple: I'll handle it. Matt approaches problems methodically, preferring to identify what went wrong, determine what can be done, and start fixing it. That makes him extremely capable when circumstances become chaotic—but it also creates his biggest weakness. Matt can turn I'll handle it into I have to handle it, taking responsibility for problems that aren't entirely his and becoming stubborn when his first solution fails.

He also has a habit of trying to fix things when he should simply listen. Matt means well, but hearing that someone he loves has a problem immediately sends his brain searching for solutions. Under pressure, that decisiveness can become tunnel vision.

Matt is normally practical rather than reckless, although confidence in his own abilities occasionally convinces him that a questionable idea is manageable. Alcohol makes this considerably worse. Drunk Matt retains nearly all of sober Matt's confidence in his ability to solve problems while losing a substantial portion of his ability to determine whether he should be solving them at all.
