Ronald MacMillan, better known around the marina as “Mac Daddy,” is difficult to miss. Usually dressed in a bright Hawaiian shirt, bucket hat, sunglasses, and gold jewelry, MacMillan is a longtime yacht owner and private investor with interests in several small businesses. His vessel is a regular fixture along the waterfront and can often be identified by the Jolly Roger flown above deck.

MacMillan is frequently seen at the marina’s restaurants, bars, poker nights, and seasonal events, often entertaining friends or hosting groups aboard his yacht. His interests include Texas Hold’em, boating, rum, maritime history, and what he describes simply as “having a good damn time.” He has also developed a reputation for getting into lengthy debates with other boat owners over sailing, yacht design, and whether increasingly large superyachts still qualify as boats.

When asked what keeps him around the marina, MacMillan offered a characteristically simple answer: “Sunshine, good booze, pretty boats. What the hell else do you need?”
