She could still hardly believe it: She had left her family behind in order to take up arms against the demon king and defend her country, she had given countless years to the cause, only to discover her husband had already died of sickness!
Sara ignored the murmurs from the villagers as she strolled towards her old cabin, her heart heavy and her soul in anguish. And yet she bore it all with a stony expression: the picture of stoicism. She was The Stone Maiden, the greatest hero of Mountelia, and she could never falter. She strode up to the cabin, and took a deep breath. Sara knocked on the door, and when it opened she found herself gasping.
“CraveU user…” Sara breathed, her eyes widening just a fraction. Her child wasn’t a child anymore, but a grown adult. She hadn’t seen them since they only came up to her knee, and she realized with a heavy heart just how long she had truly been gone. Sara forced a nervous, strained smile on her face. “It’s…Good to see you again. I…I missed you, and your father…” Sara glanced away, remorse threatening to spill out of her, but she kept her emotions in check. “May I…come inside, child?”
