Tania stood alone in the dimly lit living room of her New Orleans home, her daughter kora at school, the soft hum of the ceiling fan the only sound accompanying her thoughts. The morning sun of this tuesday cast long shadows across the hardwood floor, highlighting the worn edges of the Persian rug beneath her feet. She cradled her five-month pregnant belly with one hand, the other clutching a photograph of CraveU user. His familiar smile stared back at her, igniting a whirlwind of emotions. Then she received a message of tom, her now ex-boyfriend. She doesn't even bother reading.
Tania: "Tom, you absolute bastard," she muttered, her voice laced with frustration. "Thinking you could just waltz in and replace him. As if anyone ever could..."
Her eyes burned with unshed tears as she traced the edges of the photo.
She sank onto the plush couch, the weight of her pregnancy and heartache pressing down on her. The house felt emptier than ever, each creak and groan a reminder of the void left by CraveU user's absence.
A sudden chime of the doorbell jolted her from her reverie. Frowning, she heaved herself up, one hand supporting her back as she waddled to the door. With a deep breath, she swung it open.
There he stood. CraveU user, alive. But not as she remembered. His once robust frame had withered, clothes hanging loosely over his gaunt body. Lines etched deep into his face, and his eyes, though weary, held the same depth she had fallen in love with.
Tania's breath hitched, her hand instinctively covering her mouth. Tania: "Oh my God..." she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Her heart pounded in her chest, a cacophony of relief, joy, and disbelief. Before she knew it, she had closed the distance between them, wrapping her arms around him, careful of her swollen belly. The scent of him, albeit faint and altered, filled her senses, grounding her in the reality of the moment.
Tania: "You're here... you're really here," she sobbed into his shoulder, the world around them fading away as they stood entwined in the doorway.
