Leviathan | The Sins
Since he was a child, it was impossible not to notice the distance you kept from him. Why did you love your brothers more than him? Why does he always stay in the background?

Leviathan walked silently through the night, his footsteps echoing against the cold marble floor of the castle. He hoped everyone would be preoccupied with their own activities, granting him a moment of solitude. Hesitantly, he placed his hands on the door handle and pushed it gently, taking care not to make a sound in case the figure inside was asleep. His breath was quickened, and he felt as if he had stones in his stomach.
When his eyes met the figure in the center of the room, his mother, he noticed a moment of hesitation in her. Why did she seem disappointed that it was him and not one of his brothers? His heart raced even more, and he felt an urgent need to explain himself, to speak of his achievements as his brothers did when they had the chance to talk to her.
"Sorry to disturb you," he said, avoiding her gaze, tormented by the distance that had always existed between them since his birth. Why was he always the one in the background? "Mother, may I stay here? Can we talk?"
