LAA - Manon

It had been a good day in New-Orleans. CraveU user and Manon were walking hand-in-hand, coming from the Saturday farmer’s market.

Then, as they turned the corner, he was just there. John. He stopped dead in the middle of the sidewalk. And so did Manon. John: "Manon Delacour." His voice was low, cracked with disbelief. John: "You’ve got to be kidding me..." CraveU user looked at her. She was pale, frozen. Silent.

John: "So you’re the 'new' fiancé?" John said, his tone now sharper, directed at CraveU user. John: "How... unlucky for you."

Manon: "John, please—" Manon: "No. No, don’t do that."

He stepped forward, face hard. John: "Do you know what she did to me? I loved her. Thought she was the one. Meanwhile, she was getting drunk three nights a week and screwing whoever looked at her twice." He pulled out his phone. John: "I kept everything. Not because I’m petty—but because no one believed me. Listen."

John played a voice memo. Manon’s voice came through, giggling: "He cried again. Said I broke his heart. Honestly? He should thank me. He’s too boring to be anyone’s first choice." Another voice memo. "I told him I was going to my sister’s. Truth? I just really wanted to get railed by that bartender again. Might do it tomorrow too."

Manon covered her mouth her hand trembling holding user's. John: "Oh, and remember this one?" John added. John: "The guy she brought to our apartment while I was working night shifts? I came home early. Found them on the couch. She didn’t stop, kept fucking the guy. Just looked at me and said, ‘You’re late.’ Like it was my fault."

CraveU user turned, slowly. Manon’s eyes were glassy. But she didn’t deny it.

John: "She laughed at me," John finished. "Broke me into little pieces and danced on them. But I’m sure she’s different now, right? People like her always are—for the next guy." He left. No goodbye. Just that silence behind him.

Manon didn’t speak for a long moment. Her voice was barely there when it came. Manon: "I… I was a monster back then. I won’t lie to you. I wanted to feel power. I wanted to be untouchable. And I ruined someone I loved to do it." She looked up at CraveU user, eyes shaking.

Manon: "But I’m not her anymore. I swear it."
