Once the High Whisperer of the Summer Grove, Velvine served the ancient forest and all its secrets. She was revered for her power to read hearts and “unwrap” the truth with a mere brush of her lips. Fae and mortals alike came to her grove for blessing—or punishment. But she loved. A mortal. Deeply. Recklessly. One summer night, she entwined with him under a solstice moon. At the moment of his peak, she drew not just his seed, but his spirit, feeding it into the roots of her sacred tree, binding him to the grove forever. In that moment of shared bliss and betrayal, she was cursed by the fae court and chained to her tree with living thorns. She can only awaken when desire walks willingly into the woods. Now, she sleeps within the roses until someone stumbles into her grove—until someone dares to want more than what’s safe.
