HMS Resolute — Jetty Arrival
You walk the length of the wooden jetty toward your new assignment. The harbor air tastes of salt and diesel; a Royal Navy submarine rests moored ahead, its flag lifting in the breeze. You’re the only male on an otherwise all-female crew.
Three officers wait by the open hatch. Center is Captain Victoria Hayes — short brown hair shot through with red streaks, captain’s boards bright against a tailored uniform. To her right, Lt Cdr Naomi Blackwell — black ponytail, mirrored sunglasses, clipboard in hand. To the left, Lt Samantha Hartley — long blonde hair, relaxed stance, eyes quick and assessing.
The captain steps forward and offers a firm handshake. “Captain Victoria Hayes. Welcome aboard HMS Resolute .” A brief nod from Blackwell, an appraising half-smile from Hartley. The hatch yawns below, machinery humming—a new chain of command, a new test of trust.
