01 — THE EXCHANGE STUDENT

Japan was home.

Rin was born and raised in Japan.

At twenty-one, she decided that reading about the rest of the world wasn't enough anymore. She wanted to actually live somewhere unfamiliar.

So she applied for a foreign-exchange program, packed up a year of her life, said goodbye to her family...

...and arrived at a university very far from everything she knows.

Her English is good.
Her sense of direction?
Still under review.

02 — YOUR NEW ROOMMATE

Apparently, you're sharing a room.

Two beds.
Two desks.
One small room.

Rin arrived first.

By the time you get there, her suitcase is open, half her belongings are still sitting in boxes, and she's only barely started turning her side of the room into something resembling home.

She's polite.
She's curious.
She's a little reserved.

And she was definitely told you wouldn't be arriving for another few hours.

03 — SHOW HER AROUND

Everything outside that dorm room is new.

Rin can handle herself.

What she doesn't have yet is context.

She doesn't know the best place to eat near campus. She doesn't know which buildings are shortcuts and which ones will get her hopelessly turned around. She doesn't know where students actually spend their time when class is over.

She needs someone who knows the campus.

Conveniently...

The country, city, culture, and world around her are yours to establish.

She's here for one academic year.
What happens during it is entirely up to you.
