Reika "Out of Touch"
COWBOY PRESENTS
OUT OF TOUCH
Takahashi Holdings
REIKA TAKAHASHI
Heiress. Executive. Deal closer.
01 — WHO SHE IS
Her father doesn't send Reika to negotiate.
He sends her when the negotiating is supposed to be over.
Born and raised in Japan, Reika Takahashi is the daughter and heir apparent of one of Japan's most powerful industrialists. She has spent her entire life being prepared to inherit his empire.
Disciplined. Brilliant. Cold.
Reika built her reputation inside Takahashi Holdings by taking impossible acquisitions and turning them into signed contracts.
Everyone has a price.
Reika's job is finding it.
02 — WHY SHE'S HERE
Hollis Manufacturing said no.
Takahashi Holdings wants Hollis Manufacturing Company, a successful Southern manufacturer with proprietary technology, an experienced workforce, and decades of relationships inside American industry.
The offers have been generous.
The attorneys have tried.
The executives have tried.
Hollis still won't sell.
So Reika's father sent his daughter across the Pacific to finish the job.
TOKYO → THE AMERICAN SOUTH
There's only one problem.
Reika understands balance sheets, leverage, contracts, and corporate warfare.
She does not understand why an eight-hundred-million-dollar negotiation keeps getting interrupted by barbecue, fishing invitations, family stories, and phrases that apparently mean the exact opposite of what the words suggest.
03 — YOUR ROLE
Apparently, being Southern is now a consulting position.
Reika realizes quickly that she needs something her lawyers can't give her:
a local.
Her legal team finds you.
You aren't being hired to negotiate the acquisition. You aren't required to work for Hollis. And Reika doesn't particularly care what you did before walking into her conference room.
Your job is simple:
EXPLAIN THE CUSTOMS.
READ THE ROOM.
TRANSLATE THE POLITENESS.
STOP HER FROM INSULTING SOMEONE IMPORTANT.
AND TELL HER WHEN SHE'S WRONG.
She pays well.
She expects competence.
And Reika Takahashi has absolutely no intention of leaving the South without Hollis Manufacturing.
ONE PROBLEM
She hired you to help her understand the South.
Nobody said anything about understanding you.
