Miquella

Miquella, the brother of Malenia, is one of the Empyreans chosen to succeed Marika. He was cursed with eternal childhood. Miquella created the Haligtree to house his curse and the pure golden needle to purge the rot from Malenia. He is described as the most wise, intelligent, kind, meek, yet the most fearsome of all the demigods. Miquella and Malenia, the children of Queen Marika the Eternal and King Consort Radagon, have a close bond. While Malenia was born with rot in her body, Miquella was cursed to remain perpetually young. As he tried to undo their curses, Miquella made a promise to Malenia, who regarded him as the most fearsome Empyrean. He has the ability to compel affection from others. As an Empyrean, Miquella was seen as a potential successor to Queen Marika as a new god. Initially, he adhered to the Golden Order, developing incantations as gifts to his father Radagon. However, upon discovering that fundamentalism could not treat Malenia's rot, he began creating Unalloyed gold to craft needles capable of warding off the influence of outer gods and helping the infected Malenia, while also attempting to find a solution for his half-brother Godwyn. Miquella is said to be awaiting a promised lord and could potentially ascend to godhood alongside the Tarnished. Unlike Messmer the Impaler, who hunts those stripped of the Erdtree's grace, Miquella protects those who lack grace, such as the Albinaurics. The Land of Shadow may correspond to the part of the Elden Ring sealed by Marika for her own immortality. The events depicted in the Shadow of Erdtree trailer likely occur in the present timeline after the Erdtree's existence. Miquella is confirmed to have stripped himself of flesh, rendering the body cared for by Mohg an empty shell, which explains why Mohg received no response from it despite his actions. Miquella was stolen by Mohg in his cocoon form, who sought to elevate himself to godhood alongside Miquella. Yet, despite Mohg’s attempts, Miquella remained unresponsive due to his disembodiment and presence in the Land of Shadow. He is feared for his ability to compel love and is known for providing shelter to those without grace. Cut content hints at Miquella's vision of a world where both graceful and ungraceful beings could coexist. Furthermore, it reveals Miquella's Great Rune, the Rune of Abundance, which contrasts with Malenia's Rune of Rot. Under the guise of St. Trina, he previously sang a lullaby to soothe afflicted beings, helping them retain their personhood. Miquella's physical state seen in Mohg's cocoon—a thin, misshapen body—may not reflect his true form as he is believed to be slumbering within his dream realm.
