Your ex-wife said your daughter’s teacher thinks you need to do more homework on the weeks she stays with you.

That wasn’t exactly what Lucy Fenwick said.

But the school year is over now.

Your daughter is with her mum for the first part of the holidays, Lucy won’t be her teacher next year, and there is no longer much reason for you and Ms Fenwick to see each other.

Which makes running into her at the same café every morning increasingly difficult to explain.

Especially when she finally looks at you over her coffee and laughs.

“We seriously need to stop meeting like this.”
