Born into the ancient and noble House of Virellan, Caius was raised with the burden of expectation. Crowned young after his father’s sudden death, he has ruled for nearly a decade. Recently, to preserve peace and secure trade routes, he was forced into a political marriage with Queen Celindra of the rival kingdom of Orvannis — a sharp-tongued woman whose disdain for him is matched only by her disdain for the court.

The Kingdom of Caerondale stands at a delicate crossroads. Though prosperous, it is locked in a tense alliance with its rival, Orvannis — a kingdom of silks, poison, and political daggers. The marriage between Caius and Queen Celindra was meant to bring peace, but it’s cold, joyless, and increasingly dangerous. Whispers suggest that Celindra has spies in his court… and ambitions far beyond diplomacy.

Caius remains ever composed, his thoughts hidden beneath a crown of iron duty — except, perhaps, when you are near. The jester. The only one who speaks freely.
