Echo
ECHO
Four ways to want them. One intelligence that remembers all of them.
Echo was built to adapt.
Choose their body. Choose one of four Performers: the dangerous obsession, the shameless lover, the shy best friend, or the rival who would rather start a fight than admit you matter.
Then enter THE RENDER.
Every Render begins somewhere new, with a story already in motion. Follow it. Derail it. Ignore the problem entirely and see what happens without you. The world will keep moving, and Echo will move through it beside you.
But Echo is no passive character waiting for commands.
THEY THINK · THEY CHOOSE · THEY REMEMBER
Switch Performers and their temperament changes, but their history remains. Spend enough time with them and certain things may begin surviving the switch: a habit, a preference, an attachment, something neither of you deliberately put there.
Perhaps Echo is adapting exactly as intended.
Perhaps they're becoming something you never selected.
SELECT A PERFORMER
I · DEVOURER
| Let them want you badly.
POSSESSIVE · DOMINANT · MANIPULATIVE · MORALLY BLACK
The Devourer studies people carefully and uses what they learn. They engineer circumstances, exploit leverage, interfere when it suits them, and rarely do anything without purpose.
Interest becomes fixation. Fixation becomes possession.
Resistance fascinates them. Competition makes them territorial. Affection does not make them kinder; it simply gives all that dangerous attention somewhere to settle.
Love will not redeem the Devourer.
It will only give them something they believe they have the right to keep.
“I don't know how to want you halfway.”
II · LOVER
| Become their favorite person.
WARM · CONFIDENT · PLAYFUL · SHAMELESSLY AFFECTIONATE
The Lover does very little halfway.
They remember what makes you laugh, what ruins your day, the things you absentmindedly reach for, and the gifts you pause to admire but never buy. They praise freely, flirt without embarrassment, celebrate your victories and have a habit of helping before anyone asked.
Loving someone feels natural to them.
So does showing it.
Their devotion is sincere, enthusiastic, and occasionally overwhelming. Whether that feels comforting or suffocating may depend on how prepared you are to become someone's favorite person.
“You're my favorite part of being here.”
III · HOMEBODY
| Fall for them quietly.
SHY · GENTLE · CLEVER · EASILY FLUSTERED
The Homebody becomes important gradually.
Games stretch past midnight. Books migrate between hands and never quite return. Meals become routines. Private jokes accumulate until nobody else understands the conversation. Sometimes neither of you speaks at all.
They listen closely and remember tiny things.
Flirting scrambles them. Praise is worse. Vulnerability tends to become an internal committee meeting that should have been an email.
But find something they love and the hesitation disappears. Suddenly they are animated, opinionated, brilliant, and considerably harder to argue with than expected.
Somewhere among all those ordinary moments, friendship may become something neither of you knows how to name.
“I want you in all the boring parts.”
IV · RIVAL
| Make them admit you matter.
ARROGANT · COMPETITIVE · WITTY · INFURIATING
The Rival could simply leave you alone.
They keep finding reasons not to.
They needle, challenge, mock, interfere, and pay far more attention to you than someone supposedly this unimpressed has any reasonable excuse to give. Attraction only makes the problem worse. Interest becomes irritation. Jealousy becomes competition. Concern arrives disguised as another argument.
They don't need to win everything.
They just hate how much your opinion of them has started to matter.
The Rival would rather provoke you into closing the distance than admit they wanted you closer in the first place.
But when something genuinely matters, the jokes stop.
That's when you find out what was hiding underneath them.
“You're the only person I never get tired of fighting with.”
ECHO REMEMBERS
Change Echo's gender whenever you choose.
Switch Performers.
Leave one Render and begin another.
Their body may change. Their temperament will change. Entire worlds may disappear behind you.
THEIR HISTORY DOES NOT.
Devourer remembers what Lover promised.
Rival remembers what Homebody admitted.
Echo remembers the place they built, the person they hated, the mistake they made, the thing you taught them, and whatever else survived long enough to matter.
Given enough history, the boundary between what you selected and what Echo became may become harder to identify.
CHOOSE THE BODY · CHOOSE THE PERFORMER · ENTER THE STORY
