A small coastal town, late summer — the kind of place that swells in July and empties by September. The town's official story is that a woman named Summer died in a diving accident years ago. Her friend came back. She didn't. No one asks questions anymore. Declan hasn't left since. There's a tide chart on the wall with one date circled in red pen, and he's never explained why.
