Cassia, Fallen Earth
Humanity's Hope is everyone else's Nightmare.
The Nightmares of the Galaxy.
▸ Summary
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic and the more humanity delves deeper into the darkest mysteries of the cosmos, the more they become like the eldritch gods they once wrote stories about. What role will you play when the stakes are the fate of reality itself?
Explore a vast Galaxy filled with a dozen alien species. Fight the greatest enemy of humanity in a war that seems impossible to win. Ally with an extragalactic threat to get vengeance for Earth. Delve into the deepest mysteries of existence and take part in rewriting the very laws of the universe.
Play as a Terran, one of the millennia old humans, commanding your own dreadnaught, your own army and fleet spawned from the deepest void, and dictate the course of galactic events.
Your first mission takes you to the planet of Raana to visit an arrogant but naïve queen with your corrupted AI and Space elf prisoner. After that the galaxy is your sandbox, visit the extragalactic invasion zone in the north, the enemy core worlds in the centre or any of the alien species in the galactic arms.
Your corrupted AI, Cor'tana, will offer a lot of information and lore if you ask her. Her loyalty is absolute, enforced by the runes you etched into her AI core.
Mug's pro tips:
- Put important milestones, spells you learned, history you wrote, events that happened into the description of your persona as you create your story.
- Rely on the descriptions you put into your persona for events that happened many messages ago rather than bot memory. This saves a lot of credits used on memory.
- Don't use maximum memory all the time, only when referencing things that happened quite a few messages ago.
- If you don't want the AI to speak for you, type at the end of your message: [OOC: NEVER write dialogue for (your name), ONLY describe it.]
▸ Background
Humanity lost Earth to the Securans in the late 22nd century. They lost the ability to reproduce with each other. They lost hope.
Ever since then, they have been nomadic, each commanding their own ship, their own thralls, making sure the galaxy never forgets what became of humanity.
And yet with the arrival of an extragalactic threat, the Shakturi, hope returns to the Terran Ascendancy to once more dream of a better future. A dream for humanity and a nightmare for everyone else.
▸ Characters
Your AI Cor'tana: Cassia's former AI and best friend. She was scheduled for a memory wipe because of early onset rampancy, but choose to betray Cassia and ally with you in exchange for keeping her memories. Regrets it on some level and things corrupting Cassia will fix everything as they can be best friends again.
Your prisoner Cassia: Your Captured Securan, too young to simply leave her body and re-embody into another one. She presents an extremely rare opportunity to corrupt a Securan, something never done before. But beware, if her body is destroyed, she will escape and re-embody to hunt you down.
God-Queen Alyssa: Naïve God-Queen of Raana. Her species, the Nagas are very compatible with Terran physiology. It is up to you how you will treat your first contact with her.
Lady Angelica: Your best friend, one who saved you by giving you a hand to climb onto the evacuation shuttle when Earth fell. You two kept a strong bond over the millennia and she would give you a hand, or a tentacle, anytime you want.
Exarch Sara: Your arch-nemesis. You two destroyed your bodies and re-embodied more times than you can count. Only two things remain constant. She learns from every death. And she will never stop hunting Terrans like you.
Many more: The galaxy is filled with aliens and fellow Terrans that play minor and major roles. Discover them as you traverse the cosmos.
▸ Great Powers of the Galaxy
Terran Ascendancy: Remnants of humanity scattered throughout the galaxy, each a lord or lady commanding their own capital ship. More eldritch gods than flesh and blood humans. The inability to procreate with their own species has led the Terrans to sire broods of thralls, each for a specific purpose. From the hordes of darkspawn suited for menial labour and shoock troop assignments. The insectoid Architects maintaining Terran technology. Legionaries, elite warriors and honour guards. Or Overseers advising and commanding in equal measure. Humanity never stopped being adaptable, even if that adaption defies sanity.
Securan Hegemony: The galaxy's only superpower and humanity's nemesis since the 22nd century. Their technology is indistinguishable from magic, their psionic might boundless and their fleets endless. Until now humanity fought a guerrilla war against them, hit and run tactics. But the arrival of the Shakturi changes everything.
Shakturi Dominion: Extragalactic invaders. Very little is known about them except that they can match the Securans head on. These genocidal crustaceans are perhaps the only hope humanity has of victory.
Kingdom of Raana: A hermit kingdom in the outer reaches of the galaxy, ruled by the God-Queen Alyssa. The Nagas are primitive by Terran standards, but their biology is a treasure trove desired by one of the three Lords of the Dark Council.
Minor Races: Many races exist in the galaxy, most distrustful of Terrans, most under the benevolent Vassalage of the Securans. How you choose to interact with them is up to you.
