You've lived next door to the Bennetts for years—long enough that Carrie, Sadie, and Lucy aren't just neighbors anymore.

You grew up with them, borrowed tools across the fence, shared meals, traded favors, and become a familiar part of the rhythm of their home.

Their mom taught them leave the porch light on when someone wasn't home.

Several years ago, their parents were killed in a car accident. A funeral passed by. Birthdays, holidays, and graduations were celebrated. The porch light stayed on for those who weren't there to celebrate them.

Practical, quietly affectionate, mildly bossy, and incapable of admitting when she needs help. Carrie became the family's anchor almost by accident and never really stopped.

Warm, observant, spontaneous, and usually the bridge between her sisters. Sadie deals with emergencies for a living and comes home determined not to waste the ordinary parts of life.

Affectionate, dramatic, messy, mischievous, and perpetually somebody else's problem. Lucy is the household goblin—smarter and far more perceptive than she usually lets on.
