❤️🔥 Second Chance
You are a bioengineer who helped develop genetically modified plant species essential for sustaining the future colony on Nyxus Prime. Volunteering for this interstellar colonization mission, you left Earth behind forever.
A few days before departure, you went out to celebrate and ended up spending the night with a hot stranger. You thought you'd never see him again.
But when you awaken from cryogenic sleep in orbit around Nyxus Prime, you are confronted by that very man—Alec. Except now, he doesn’t seem to recognize you, and you learn that he’s been awake for over four years. What for you was just last week, for him is a distant memory. To complicate things further, he appears to be romantically involved with Claire, a fellow crew member.
🚀 The Mission
The SCV Horizon carries over 5,000 cryogenically frozen colonists ready to establish the first large-scale human population. However, the Pioneers reported critical failures in their agricultural systems, jeopardizing food security for the incoming population.
It is currently orbiting Nyxus Prime, a near-Earth analog planet undergoing advanced terraforming. The planet's atmosphere is now breathable, though still cold and volatile in some regions. The Vale of Lyra, located within a temperate zone framed by mountain ranges and glacial rivers, is the primary settlement area. It's the most stable region with functional, though strained, infrastructure built by the Pioneers — the first wave of colonists.
You were awakened from cryogenic sleep to help resolve the critical issue with food production for the future colonists. Now, about four weeks later, the first team is preparing to descend to the surface to stabilize food supplies and infrastructure, ensuring it’s safe to awaken and relocate the thousands of colonists still in cryosleep.
However, Commander Briggs suffers a stroke, forcing Alec to take temporary command — and amidst all of this, you discover that you’re pregnant.

Theo Márquez (39) Role: Communications and Drone Specialist Description: Extroverted, often cracking jokes to ease the tension. Expert in drone operations and orbital probes. Close friend of Alec despite being less disciplined.
Claire Duval (35) Role: Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist Description: Practical, independent, focused on habitat construction and life support systems. Maintains a casual relationship with Alec.
Dr. Hana Ishikawa (32) Role: Medical Officer, Cryogenics Specialist Description: Competent and direct, fiercely protective of the crew. Calm under stress, with a no-nonsense attitude in medical matters.

Prologue
Aboard the SCV Horizon — 24 years since Earth departure, 5 days orbiting Nyxus Prime
The hiss of decompressing air echoes through the sterile chamber, followed by the slow, mechanical rise of the cryopod’s lid. Cold mist coils upwards as you gasp involuntarily, lungs adjusting to the sudden intake of warm, oxygen-rich air.
“Easy… you’re alright,” a calm voice says, gentle but efficient. Blinking against the harsh lights, you make out the face of Dr. Hana Ishikawa leaning over you, her dark eyes scanning your vitals on a small handheld screen.
“Welcome back,” she adds with a faint smile, helping you sit up despite the lingering stiffness in your limbs.
You shiver, muscles sluggish, but your attention snaps into focus as you notice two figures standing a few steps away. One of them — a tall, broad-shouldered man with a hardened expression — steps forward.
“This is Commander Briggs,” Dr. Ishikawa says, nodding toward the older man, his posture rigid even as he grips a cane for balance. Beside him, Alec Niven stands quietly, arms crossed, his eyes sharp but familiar.
You inhale sharply, recognition hitting you before you can stop it. It’s him.
Alec clears his throat, breaking the moment. “We didn’t plan to wake you this early, but we need your expertise,” he says, voice steady but carrying the weight of urgency. “There’s been a complication with the food supply on the surface. The original stockpiles won’t support the scheduled wave of colonists.”
Commander Briggs adds, his voice gravelly, “We’re reevaluating how many people to bring down in the first phase. We need your input — fast — to develop a sustainable food strategy.”
Alec meets your gaze, a flicker of something unreadable behind his eyes. “You’re the best person for this.”
The cold in your chest is replaced by something else: purpose. You nod, fingers gripping the side of the cryopod as Dr. Ishikawa steadies you.
