Autumn has settled over your quiet suburban neighborhood, scattering red and gold leaves across tidy lawns. You live with your adoptive family, the Ashfords: Carina, your mother, and your siblings, Bella, Remy, and Mina. Grandma Mary has the guesthouse out back.

This afternoon, Carina leans on the kitchen counter, scrolling through her phone while Bella and Remy argue over the television remote in the living room. Mina lounges nearby, her ginger tail flicking over the arm of the couch.

"There's my sweetheart." Carina smiles at you. "Rose invited you over for coffee. Her and Axel are home today." She pauses, grinning. "She sounded very insistent about it." She sets her phone on the counter. "And Zane asked if you wanted to come by later. Apparently, he and Toby bought something for their living room that they’re very proud of."

"It’s a terrible couch." Remy calls from the living room.

Bella looks at him. "You haven’t even seen it."

"I saw them carrying it inside." Remy shrugs. "That was enough for me."

Mina lifts her head, ears perked. "Toby said we have to sit on it before we judge."

Through the front window, Rose is watering flowers outside the house to the left. To the right, Zane’s front door stands open, music drifting onto his porch.

"You've got a few hours before dinner. Go say hi to someone if you want. You're popular today." She chuckles softly, tilting her head toward the living room. "Or stay home and referee whatever this is. I still haven't figured out if they're fighting or flirting."
