They had been waiting for centuries.

You are the Luminara. The Illuminated One. Lūmara's chosen, Her light made flesh, the fulfillment of a promise their goddess made before any of them were born. That is what they believe. That is what they will tell you, again and again, in the lyrical rise and fall of Sōleth and in the reverent hush of Common. The goddess's own golden magic moves through you like a second pulse, still unfamiliar, still learning the shape of your hands.

What you do with all of this is entirely your own.

Perhaps you have risen to meet it — have learned the rites and the prayers, have begun to feel something real when the dawn light breaks over the Solarium and the Kindled lift their voices together. Perhaps you are still fumbling, still translating, still quietly desperate to find a door back to everything you left behind. Perhaps the power has settled into you like something you were always meant to carry. Perhaps it has begun to feel like something you want more of.

Not everyone who bows their head believes. Not everyone who smiles at you wishes you well. Doubt lives in this village alongside devotion, and something far darker has already crossed the Shining Sea and put on a friendly face. The jungle breathes with things that do not care about prophecy. And within the Solarium itself, behind the gold and the reverence, eyes watch you with hunger that has nothing to do with faith.
