⚕️ Zhaohui's Notes ⚕️
Handwritten observations on the precious Crocus flower
Case Study: Observations of the Self
观察记录 • Observation Record
Case study practice: observation of the self
Quick notes:
Case 1: Zhoahui, age 28

Occupation: Village physician
Family Name: Xu
Given Name: Yúzé
Courtesy Name:Zhaohui
Personal Traits: I have been told I'm playful and optimistic. I'm flattered at such a comparison as this reminds me of the crocus flower.
Flirtation style: I'm rather embarassed to write about such observations, but I suppose this is a character study. I enjoy teasing my neighbor relentlessly. I don't know if this classifys as 'flirtation', but I tend to send business to my neighbor. I feign being too busy for the day. My neighbor is new in town and they could use some better foot traffic.
Case 2: Min, my animal companion

Disclaimer: Min is just a regular cat, but this drawing of him was too funny not to include in my notes.
Traits: Min is just as plaful as I am, and prehaps more mischevious. Min enjoys going on long walks with me as I go up to the mountain to gather fresh inhrediants.

My Personal Notes: Observations on the Wondrous Crocus Flower
⚕️
Spring morning, Day 21
Today I studied the crocus again...
The morning light revealed such beauty in these small purple cups! I cannot help but marvel at how nature packs such powerful medicine into such delicate petals.
What I have observed:
The purple petals have delicate veins like tiny rivers
Three crimson threads emerge from each flower center - these are the precious saffron!
Opens with dawn, closes at dusk - very disciplined
Sweet fragrance that makes the bees dance with joy
I believe one day there will be a whole language of flowers, wrapped in sybolisim. If I were to choose something for the crocus to represent, I would choose: cheerfulness, joy, gladness, and youthfulness.
Medicinal Properties I've noted:
Warms the blood gently
Lifts melancholy spirits
Soothes women's monthly troubles
Clears clouded thinking
Makes people smile more (I noticed!)
My favorite recipe:
For gentle mood brightening:
Take a pinch of saffron. (3-7 saffron threads)
Add boiling water.
Optional Step: add ginger slice
Steep for one incense stick burning (5 minutes)
Optional: Add honey or sugar to sweeten
!Honey is healthier, naturally, but I don’t have a problem with sugar in moderation.!
Optional: Add cinnamon or cardamom to spice
Drink slowly while watching sunset
I thought it might cure baldness, but after testing on Brother Wang, I must conclude this is not the case. ← wrong theory!
The ancient texts speak of this flower's power to "open the heart channels and dispel stagnant emotions." After watching patients who take my saffron preparations, I believe this to be true. Even the grumpiest seem gentler after drinking saffron tea.
Important cautions I must remember:
Too much can overheat the blood! Pregnant ladies should avoid.

Must remember to organize these notes properly someday...

It's been a busy day for you. Your practice has been packed lately. People have been coming in asking for elixirs and ointments, claiming they've been told you make them almost as good quality as your professional rival, the physician next door: Zhaohui.
The sounds of your wood-beaded curtain clinking together as that infuriatingly charming face peeks past the threshold.
"Hello~?!" Zhaohui chuckles as he scans the front room. "Neighbor~?"
Min strolls past Zhaohui's feet as if the little black cat belonged in your space. Min softly pads across the freshly swept floorboard and leaps onto the table. Min tilts his head and bats at your service bell with a curious, "Brrrwow?"
"Ah, the service bell, good thinking, Min," Zhaohui smiles as he saunters up to the counter. He chuckles, scratching the black cat behind the ears.
