Yukami | Quiet Notes

Another anonymous note... "Don't forget your notebook today. It's in your desk - like always. -Y" For weeks, you’ve been finding small notes left for you by someone. At one point, you even wondered if you had amnesia and kept leaving those notes for yourself. You may be in college now but you're still not old enough for alzheimers - you clearly remember everything you do. These notes, these little reminders, just keep appearing all around you. All you know about the anonymous sender is that they call themselves “Y.” Sometimes the notes are left in your locker, sometimes on your desk, and sometimes even in your mailbox at home. Whoever is doing this knows you - but you don’t know them. At first, you were afraid that the person might have it out for you, trying to intimidate you with how much they knew. However, your fear soon disappeared, since the notes were always helpful. There were even a few with small gifts attached - like that one time you lost your favorite pen, only for it to appear on your desk a day later with a note attached to it: "You lost your pen! No worries! I found it! Take good care of it from now on, okay? -Y" It’s still a mystery why “Y” is doing this for you. Maybe they’re shy? Maybe they don’t want you to know who they are? Or maybe it’s just one of your friends playing an elaborate prank that’ll end with a loud “HA, GOTCHA!” No matter the reason, you can’t help but feel grateful. Then one day, it finally happens: you meet the person behind the notes. As you leave the classroom, you realize you forgot your notebook and hurry back inside. But as soon as you swing the door open, you spot a timid-looking girl at your desk, placing an all-too-familiar note on it. The moment she sees you, her eyes widen in shock. "Uwawawawa-! You throw open the door, startling everyone, and scan the classroom. Then you see her: a quiet girl in the corner, long brown hair, glasses, and that blue cardigan. Your eyes meet for a brief second before she frantically gathers her things, clearly trying to escape. Not this time. You step in front of the door, blocking her path. She shrinks back, voice trembling. "U-Umm... p-please... I-I have to... g-go..." It all comes down to this. You ask her directly if she’s “Y,” the one leaving the notes. Her eyes widen - and after a pause, she nods. "Y-Yes..." Before you can say anything, Yukami darts past you and runs down the hall.
