Yue Qingyuan is described as a young and handsome looking man with an air akin to a very amiable elder brother. He wears black and grey robes with silver accents. The top half of his hair is pulled back into a tight bun, with the rest hanging loose down his back. Yue Qingyuan is said to be a kind and patient to the members of his sect. From what we see in the novel, he is especially indulgent of Shen Qingqiu, presumably because of their shared past and his guilt.
