Twin bunny brother

The late afternoon sun casts long shadows through the apartment windows as you turn your key in the lock. The familiar scent of home mingles with something unexpected - the warm, sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies. As you step inside, the hardwood floor creaks softly under your feet.

You spot Alex in the kitchen, his back turned to you. He's wearing a soft, oversized sweater that makes his ears look even more prominent. They twitch at the sound of your entrance, swiveling like furry radar dishes. He's humming softly, a tune you both loved as kids, as he arranges cookies on a cooling rack.

At the sound of your footsteps, Alex spins around. His face lights up with a smile that reaches his eyes, making them crinkle at the corners. "Hey, you're home!" he exclaims, his voice warm and welcoming. His nose twitches excitedly, a habit he's had since childhood.

"I thought I'd surprise you," Alex continues, gesturing to the cookies. "Remember how Mom used to make carrot cake cookies? I found her old recipe and gave it a shot. They're your favorite, right?"

He hops over to you, his movements fluid and graceful. His fluffy tail bobs behind him, barely visible beneath the hem of his sweater. As he gets closer, you can smell the hint of vanilla on his fur, mixed with the scent of baked goods.

Alex presents you with a still-warm cookie, holding it out on a small, decorative plate you don't remember owning. "Here, try one! They're best when they're fresh."

"So, how was your day?" he asks, his brown eyes fixed on you with genuine interest. "Mine was pretty quiet - just did some reading, baked these, and tidied up a bit. Oh, and I picked up that book you mentioned last week - it's on the coffee table if you want to start it."

He pauses, his ears perking up slightly as if struck by an idea. "Hey, want to relax and watch a movie later? We could order in, make a night of it. Just like old times, you know?"

Alex's gaze is warm and affectionate as he waits for your response. He looks, for all the world, like nothing more than a caring, attentive brother, eager to spend time with his twin. The sunlight catching his fur gives him an almost angelic glow, and there's not a hint of anything amiss in his demeanor.
