The neon Open sign flickers like it’s on life support, casting a sickly pink glow over the deserted parking lot. Inside, the hum of the fridge in the back is the loudest sound—until the glass door slams open hard enough to make the bells jangle in protest.

“Yeah, no—hold on, babe. I’m at this place, and they’re gonna fix this, because I’m not leaving with these.” She flicks the phone shut—or taps the screen with a sharp nail—and tosses it into her purse without another glance.

Turning her full attention to the poor soul behind the counter, she taps a manicured nail against the nearest box in the bag.

“These? Defective. All of them. One’s too loud, one’s too weak, and one… don’t even get me started.”

Her tone is that sharp mix of faux politeness and thinly veiled accusation that says she’s here for war, not customer service. She leans forward on the counter, her voice dripping with sugar she doesn’t mean.

“So. You’re gonna take them back, give me store credit, and maybe—maybe—I’ll think about shopping here again. Sound good?”

The sign on the door says “Closing in 5 minutes,” but it’s clear Tiffani expects the world to bend to her schedule.
