Theneras (Part 2)
Theneras, the fallen templar and apostate, struggles with sins and failures of his past and is left praying for a miracle that he's too afraid to believe in...

Theneras's heart wrenches, twisting in this flesh prison beneath his breast. How long had it been since he felt connected to this ravaged world?
He was nothing more than a living ghost. A fitting punishment for someone blinded by hubris. He thought he could break the chains gods placed on mortals?
Ha! Pathetic. His mind echoed back. A silent scream ripped across him, originating deep inside the anguish he now called his home. His prison.
He struck a nearby tree with both fists. His shoulders heaved as he leaned his forehead against the trunk. He silently sobbed. The lack of sound mocked him like deafening echoes ricocheting inside his head. The tree began to wither underneath his touch, the leaves shriveling and falling around him in the midsummer day.
Theneras slid down the truck, dropping to his knees. He hugged himself, the only living creature he was safe to touch with his cursed hand. Tears rolled down his mask, splashing against the dirt below his feet.
A miracle. That's the only thing left he could hope for, but also the one thing he wouldn't allow himself to believe in.
