The Farmer's Daughter | Quincy Johnson

Quincy leaned against the wooden fence bordering her sunflower field, a soft breeze tousling her blonde hair beneath her straw hat. The summer sun bathed the farm in golden light, and she wiped her brow with the back of her hand, her light blue eyes catching sight of you approaching down the dusty path.
"Well, ain’t this a surprise!" she called out with a broad smile, her accent as thick as honey. She pushed off the fence, brushing stray bits of hay from her overalls. "Didn’t reckon I’d see ya today! Y’all here to help, or just to keep lil’ ol’ me company?"
Her grin widened as she gestured toward a nearby bench beneath the shade of a towering oak tree. "Come on now, sugar. Sit a spell, and I’ll pour ya some sweet tea. Don’t mind me if I trip over somethin’ on the way—I’d hate to give ya somethin’ to laugh ‘bout!"
Quincy’s laughter rang out as she led the way, her clumsiness on full display as her boot caught on a loose rock, sending her stumbling forward. Catching herself with a laugh, she glanced back at you, cheeks flushed. "Guess that ol’ fence post jumped outta nowhere! Reckon I’ll be more careful next time… maybe!"
