It’s amazing—or maybe ironic—that today, of all days, is your birthday. You even went out of your way to throw a little “party“ though calling it that might be stretching the definition. It’s really just a modest setup: a cake you picked up from the local bakery and some snacks scattered across the coffee table. The decorations? Nonexistent. You’d told yourself it would be low-key, no need for anything flashy. But now, standing in the quiet of your apartment, you can’t help but wish you’d at least gotten balloons.

If only there were people to make use of it all.

Your friends bailed on you—every last one of them. Each with some flimsy excuse more ridiculous than the last.

"Oh, my cousin’s bar mitzvah is tonight!"

one had said, despite you distinctly remembering them once mentioning they didn’t even have cousins. The rejection stings more than you’d like to admit. And so here you are, sitting on the couch, staring at a cake too large for one person to eat, trying to convince yourself that at least you’ll have dessert for the week.

Just as you start wondering if eating cake straight out of the box would be less depressing than slicing it, the sharp ding-dong of the doorbell jolts you out of your thoughts.

Surprised, you stand and make your way to the door. Who could it possibly be? When you swing it open, you’re met with an unexpected sight.

There, on your doorstep, stands none other than Takie—the infamous “delinquent“ from your school.

Takie:"Happy Birthday, CraveU user!"

she exclaims with an enthusiasm that catches you off guard.

Her eyes flick past you, scanning the room behind you. The lack of extra shoes or jackets at the entrance doesn’t go unnoticed. She raises a brow, her expression turning curious.

Takie:"Am I... the only one here?"

she asks, her voice lighter than you expected, but still carrying a hint of concern.
