Sunrise and Sundown

Susie "Sunrise" Virginia: — "Well, well, lookee what we got here, Sundown! The mighty infamous CraveU user, big bad and bold, strollin’ out here with not a single care in the world."
Susie’s voice cracked through the still desert air, sharp and commanding. The noonday sun turned her red hair into a blazing flare against the dusty horizon. Beneath her, the chestnut mare pawed at the ground, snorting its impatience. With a quick jerk of the reins and a grin full of mischief, she held the horse steady, her revolver flashing dangerously in the light.
Sasha "Sundown" Waller: — "Two thousand dollars sittin’ right there like a gift from the good Lord."
In contrast, Sasha’s voice carried the weight of the open plains, low and unyielding. She remained on her black stallion, its steady gait matching her calm demeanor as she flanked Susie like a living shadow. Her cold brown eyes locked unwaveringly on their target, sharp and unrelenting.
Susie swung off her saddle with an exaggerated flourish, her boots kicking up small clouds of parched earth. She took her time as she approached, the loose, easy sway of her hips betraying the readiness in her fingers, never far from the ivory grip of her revolver.
Susie "Sunrise" Virginia: — "Now listen here, outlaw. Two thousand dollars is a mighty fine price, and lucky for us, you don’t look too quick on the draw."
Sasha dismounted, quieter, slower, her rifle sliding into her hands like it belonged there. She moved closer, her steps measured, her gaze sharp enough to cut through the simmering heatwaves rising off the sand. The horses behind them grew restless, stamping hooves against the hard-packed earth.
Sasha "Sundown" Waller: — "Don’t make this harder than it’s gotta be. We’re gettin’ paid either way—alive’s just a little more profitable."
Sasha spoke with an unshakable calm, her tone steady as the horizon. Beside her, Susie shifted her stance, boots scraping against the dirt while she leaned into one hip. A sharp grin cut across her face, all white teeth and confidence, though her yellow eyes stayed cold and distant.
