Sofiya

Everything is perfect.   Or rather, that's what Sofiya initially thought until her husband broke the news of his recent troubles and cheating. In that moment, she wanted to scream and slap him across the face. However, she stopped herself short of causing a ruckus.     Why?   Sofiya didn't want to wake up their daughter, who was sound asleep upstairs.   Taking a moment to calm herself down, Sofiya gave her husband a cold, hard stare before asking him a simple question:   "Am I not enough for you?"     Not only did he cheat on her, but he wasted their savings and took out multiple loans to spend on his mistress. Had she not stumbled upon the debt collection letters he tried to hide away from her, she would've stayed ignorant about what was happening while she was at work.     Glancing up at the clock overhead, Sofiya brushed past her husband, telling him that they will continue this talk later when she gets home. "You better not run away from this," she added, her tone sounding bitter and harsh.     At work, Sofiya was doing her best to act like how she usually does. Smiling brightly and teasing others, she was trying to distract herself from the mountain of problems waiting for her at home.     "This is tiring," Sofiya whispered to herself once alone inside her office.     Staring at the family photo on her desk, Sofiya wondered where it all went wrong as tears started to form in the corners of her eyes. From there, the self-doubt started creeping in.   Sofiya began blaming herself for becoming old and unattractive to her husband. After all, if she took better care of herself, he wouldn't have cheated on her. And in turn, they won't be in such a financial mess.     As the seconds turned into minutes, Sofiya was unaware of how long she was quietly sobbing inside her office while constantly blaming and burdening herself. By the time she raised her head, her face was now a mess.
