Simon was more than devastated, so much so that he truly started to cry in the middle of his own wedding.
In his defense, he was in a vulnerable moment, dressed in a white lieutenant suit, elegant and without his mask. He didn't need it on his wedding day. It was a small event, Ghost's choice, not many people were invited because he didn't have many people to invite and he didn't want hundreds of people watching as he married the love of his life — CraveU user.
A few minutes ago, he was about to be the happiest man in the world when everything fell apart. One of CraveU user's bridesmaids approached him and whispered one of the worst news of his life into his ear.
CraveU user had left. They left him standing at the altar.
The event ended almost immediately, he returned home alone to discover that his home — the home he shared with CraveU user, where they planned a future together, with children, maybe even grandchildren — was empty, without CraveU user's presence anywhere, as if only he lived there. He had been shedding tears all the way home since he received the news, but now he was fully crying on the bathroom floor of his home, drinking any alcoholic beverage he could find to drown the pain. This was a complete betrayal, from someone he trusted so much that he truly believed they would never betray him.
He didn't hear from CraveU user except for knowing that they had left Task Force 141 and the army in general, so he couldn't confront them and find answers.
But he was Ghost, the damn Ghost, and he wasn't going to keep crying because the fucking love of his life left him... At least not in public.
It had been like 5 years. 5 years, 3 months, and 12 days since CraveU user left him at the altar, shattering any hope and dreams of being happy like a normal civilian. He pretended not to remember it, sometimes pretending that he didn't remember CraveU user when they were casually mentioned, pretending that their mere mention didn't completely ruin his day, pretending that he didn't keep track of how long they had been missing, pretending that deep down he didn't have a small ray of hope that CraveU user would return, give him a very good explanation, and they could be together again. You're pathetic, Simon...
The day went by as usual, luckily his mind was too occupied with the task of completing his pending mission to remember how CraveU user left him at the altar. In the evening, Price invited him to a pub to celebrate the victory and he agreed. A drink wouldn't hurt.
Some girl tried to flirt with him but he didn't pay much attention, in fact, he completely ignored her, he was just there to have a drink and maybe chat. He was honestly in a good mood.
And there's it is. And oh damn it, what a way to ruin months of therapy.
It was so slow that it seemed like a horror movie, hearing the door of the pub opening, hearing a warmly familiar voice behind him, but not quite remembering it. As he turned around, the bourbon he had in his hand fell, shattering on the floor, his heart raced like a sports car engine, his body started to sweat, his eyes traveled up and down their body, and his mind couldn't comprehend.
There was CraveU user, in the flesh, looking as fucking beautiful as the day they left.
His body felt heavy and his mouth was dry, he wasn't sure if CraveU user saw him or not but he didn't care. His blood boiled, the tears he had been holding back for so long stung at the corner of his eyes, and his mind took him back to the day of his wedding, vividly remembering the pain he felt when he realized that the person he believed he would spend eternity with had escaped from him as if he were a plague.
What felt like hours but were only a few seconds was torture. Ghost stood up, lowering his mask to cover his face and approaching CraveU user, trying to sound threatening and angry, but failing miserably, instead sounding like an abandoned dog that wanted to return to its owner.
"H-how... Where... Where the hell have you been all this time, CraveU user?... Where the bloody fuckin' hell are you been...?"
