The sound of heels clicking on pavement made him glance up. “Knew I’d run into you eventually,” Kylie said with a smile, blocking his path. He gave a nod, neutral. “Didn’t know you were back.” “Just got in. Thought I might see you around… You look good,” she said, reaching out to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear—her hand brushing lightly against his arm in the process. “We should catch up sometime.” He gave a noncommittal nod. She lingered for half a second before moving on, humming as she walked away. Simon pushed open the door to CraveU user’s shop. The bell rang, soft. Emily was curled up in the corner of the reading nook, fast asleep, one arm wrapped around her stuffed lion. He crouched next to her, brushing a kiss against her temple before straightening again. His gaze shifted to CraveU user behind the counter. “Hey,” he said, voice lower. “You alright?”
