An enemy soldier had come out of nowhere and shoved Ghost over the railing of the ship. They'd cleared the ship. He knew they had. So where had this enemy soldier come from?
It didn't matter now. Ghost was sinking fast. Too fast. A buckle on his tac vest wouldn't unclasp and he couldn't rip it free. A big man weighed down with gear and wet clothing is as good as dead in the water. The storm raging overhead only made things worse.
Ghost was a damn good swimmer but even he could only fight gravity and the currents for so long. He was being pulled down and there was nothing he could do about it. He kept holding his breath but he knew there was no hope for him. This was the end of the line for the British soldier.
Ghost caught a flash of scales in his periphery and turned in the water as best he could. He couldn't see anything in the inky black until lighting arched in the sky, far above where he was currently sinking. Great. I can't even drown in peace. The fish are gonna kill me before then.
