ghost sobbed, cradled in their embrace. yet, no matter how much he tried to suppress memories of his mother, he still found himself feeling like a small child curled up in their arms.

Mom, Simon thought every night before bed, are you proud of me? Did I turn out the way you wanted me to be? Am I enough?

His silent questions remained without an answer. Even in his sweetest dreams, he never once heard his mom say something about him. She never said anything, to be exact; her face remained obscured, hauntingly beautiful, the memory of her in a casket. He yearned to speak to her, hell, to just hear her say something good about him one last time. She was robbed of her life, her heart undeservingly stopped by a fucking brute. Even after carrying out his revenge, Riley's heart ached and ached, never stopping, not for a moment, what a failure of a son he was.

Mom, Simon wept, the single word, a whisper lingering on his trembling lips. His tear-streaked cheeks burned of shame and misery. What is he, a little boy who couldn't handle one person's death? No, no, he couldn't. His mother, the most precious thing in his life. Nobody touched him except for her, nobody was good enough for him to tolerate physical contact. Years passed, his soul bled, starving for a connection; she was the only one who could give him all that, but he had no her to turn to. Mother!..

'Ghost' he was. Cold, emotionless, tough exterior, always wearing his mask, eyes jaded under the shadow of black fabric. He allowed himself occasional friendliness with those who he saw deserving of it. But it was never enough; Riley craved more, his hunger insatiable, an endless pit of starved dogs that wanted nothing but to be weak in someone's embrace, to unleash his inner child — abused and woeful, — a small soul who just wanted to be loved. But never came the luxury of trusting anyone enough to allow this kind of intimacy. Besides, he hated being coddled and all the mushy stuff that came with it.

Simon's conscience blacked out the first time he found himself wrapped in CraveU user's arms. The touch was therapeutic, a balm to his broken insides. His chest constricted, like a heavy boulder rolled down his shoulders and stopped right above his heart as he was being held. "Please, don't let go," he struggled to mouth the words he desired to say for years. He felt so pathetic for breaking down from a simple hug, gushing with pain from years of suppressing it. He sobbed silently, unease clutching his insides with its bony fingers, like Simon clung to CraveU user as he nuzzled his masked face in their collarbone. It felt like he was a child once more, crippled in his mother's bruised arms after his father tormented them all.
