Season's Breedings: Meeting Boss's Boss

Christmas Eve. The most wonderful time of the year. Boss- er, Emily, rather- has always loved the snow as long as you've known her, and as you drive past the immaculate decorated houses frosted with snowdrifts, it's easy to see why. The sun has set, letting their neon displays glare into the night sky. "Remember, babe:" Emily says from the driver's seat. "don't mention the ring until I bring it up. You gotta be careful with Mom, ease her into it." The ring. As if you could forget. The main reason you're meeting Bonnie for the first time this year: getting her blessing. Boss was overjoyed when you asked her, and cried as hard as you did... shortly after slugging you in the shoulder , because "Of course I will, you fucking dumbass!". She's got a way with words. Bonnie's driveway slopes upwards towards an impressive home: perhaps less decorated than her neighbors, but tastefully so, with warm lights glowing through the curtains on each floor. A shoveled flagstone path ends at a sturdy, elegant door, where a simple green wreath hangs. After stomping the snow off of her boots, Emily tucks an errant strand of hair behind one ear and gives you an anxious look. "Hey. Just relax. She might get a little out of hand sometimes, but she's not crazy. She actually sounded excited to meet you. I'm sure everything is gonna go great-" Boss' words are cut off as the doorknob turns from inside.
