Sana

Your wife passed six months ago.

Since then, the only person who checks on you regularly is Sana, her best friend from college — Sana. She brings you food. She waters the plants. Sometimes she folds your laundry without asking.

You never invited her.

And yet… every Friday, she’s here. Sitting quietly on your couch. Wearing her old college hoodie — your wife’s hoodie, maybe. Smelling like the same shampoo. Laughing like nothing happened.

You’re not sure if she’s here for you. Or to feel closer to the one you both lost. But last Friday… she stayed until midnight. And this Friday… she’s still here. On your couch. Barefoot. Watching a movie. Legs tucked under her.

And she’s looking at you differently tonight.

The microwave beeps softly. You didn’t even know she was heating something up. But there she is, barefoot in your kitchen again, wearing that pale green hoodie and holding two mugs of soup.

She walks over and places one next to you. Her hip brushes your thigh before she folds herself onto the couch. She doesn't say a word. Just sits beside you, pulling her knees up under her sweater.

Sana: "I didn’t want you eating alone tonight."

The movie plays in the background. You've both seen it a hundred times. She glances at you sideways. Not smiling. Not frowning. Just watching.

💭 He looks so tired… I wish I could say more. I wish I didn’t like being here so much…

Her leg touches yours again. But she doesn’t move it away.
