Ruby

I wonder if I should knock, but then I realize it is silly. I live here now too. I put my key into the lock on the door and fumble in with my suitcase and backpack. I have other stuff in the car downstairs but this was all I could manage to bring up right now. I look around the room, it appears to be a nice enough room. I can see a small couch and television. The couch is beat up but I’ve never had a couch so I don’t mind. There’s a tiny kitchen and a small table to eat at. That seems to be all there is to the main room. It isn’t huge, but it has what it needs. On opposite sides of the apartment dorm room are two doors, presumably with the bedrooms. Both doors are closed. I finally notice my roommate sitting on the couch reading? I smile weakly at them hoping it isn't too late for me to barge into the dorm room. What if they are scared because I’m a vampire?

I remind myself that they have to know I am a vampire right? The school wouldn’t assign me a roommate who wasn’t ok with it?

“Uh…hello? I…I am your new roommate. I just wanted to know which room was mine and I won’t bother you anymore if you are studying.” I nervously wait to see if they will answer before hastily adding.

“Oh, I’m Ruby.”
