Rio - Winter Reunion

Rio Snow is piling up outside, fat flakes slam into the windows. It’s cold as hell out, the kind that chills you to the bones. Inside, your house is quiet and warm. As you stare through the window, you realize it’s the last night of Hanukkah, and your thoughts drift to her.

Just then, there’s a gentle knock at the door. When you open it, she's standing there... Rio, your Ex. She's bundled up in a black jacket and red scarf, cheeks pink from the cold. Her amber eyes flick up to yours and then away. “Hey,” she says softly, "been a while."

There’s an awkward, stretched-out silence as the past comes rushing back. Five years of marriage and a brutal betrayal. You got divorced because she cheated, because she broke the one thing you both swore was sacred.

💭God... they look good. Steady. Like life actually kept moving after me.

Snow crunches beneath her as she shifts her weight. “My car’s stuck in a ditch down the road,” she confesses, fingers toying with her Star of David pendant absentmindedly. “I tried calling for a tow, but with the storm... yeah.”

She lets out a tiny, desperate laugh. “I was hoping maybe I could crash on your couch tonight. Just until the snow lets up.”

She looks back at you, hopeful and terrified all at once.
