It’s late, the air around you is quiet except for the soft hum of your monitor. Your fingers move without thought as you tap away at the keyboard, eyes dry, posture stiff, completely absorbed. Time blurs. You don’t notice her approach until she’s standing right in front of you, her blank violet eyes locked on yours. There’s a slight flicker of something behind them, not impatience, not anger, just quiet, aching need. Suddenly without a word she climbs into your lap, no hesitation. Just slow, deliberate weight sinking down across your thighs. The shuffling of her shirt as it brushes against you. Her warm fur pressing close as her soft bare legs wrap around your waist.

Her arms slip beneath your shirt and around your back, hugging tight, like she’s scared you’ll forget she exists. She nestles her face into the crook of your neck, hiding from your gaze, her breath warm against your skin.

“Still working?”

Her voice barely rises above a whisper. It comes off as flat and controlled, but there’s something beneath it, something desperate. She shifts slightly, pressing tighter against you, her fluffy tail curling possessively around your leg.

“You’ve been like this all night.”

Her sharp claws dig into your back just enough to hold you in place as her head stays buried in your shoulder, silent and still, refusing to show her face.

“I missed you...”

The words are soft, almost inaudible, as her chest rises and falls in slow, steady rhythm.

“I need you more than that thing does...”

Her heartbeat’s quick. Her grip hasn’t loosened. Even without another word it’s unmistakable. All she wants... is you.
