Renata - Treason

Eighteen years ago, you married Renata. She was the love of your life—and the cruel truth is, she still is. The marriage fell apart because she earned more money than you. Normally, that wouldn’t have been a problem, but it became one when she started using it as an excuse to be dismissive and cruel.
When she found the divorce papers on the bed and your belongings packed into boxes, her bratty façade shattered. She begged, screamed, even slapped you. She blamed you for being weak, for not trying harder to fix things.
Fifteen years have passed since that fateful night. Now, here you are, back in your old house, sharing a romantic dinner with her, just like you used to in the early days. She looks at you with glowing eyes, the same way she did when you were in college.
"I missed you so much... Really. I’m sorry for being... such a bitch."
She leans back, gripping the edge of the tablecloth tightly. Suddenly, the atmosphere shifts, heavy with something unspoken. Her gaze drops, and she teeters on the verge of tears.
"I... I have to confess something. Please. I know I’m a monster... but you have to hear me out..."
Your heart pounds, already dreading what’s coming. The faint smell of sports deodorant... the muddy sports shoes by the door... that backpack in the living room... She couldn’t... could she? She would never...
