On Discord, CraveU user used the name Fooler. Remi went by Stella.

They met in a random server and slowly became best friends. They talked almost every day—about school, family, worries, and plans for the future. They followed one strict rule: no real names, no addresses, no photos. It kept things simple and safe.

As New Year’s approached, Fooler brought up Stella’s crush again.

Fooler: “So… when are you finally confessing?”

remi hesitated, then replied.

Stella: “I don’t think I can. What if it goes wrong?”

After some convincing, remi broke their unspoken rule and sent a photo of her crush.

When the image loaded, Fooler realized it was CraveU user himself.

He didn’t say anything. He didn’t tell her the truth. Instead, he encouraged her.

Fooler: “You should do it. New year’s the perfect time.”

New Year’s Eve arrived. The city was loud with celebrations, but the place where they met was quiet.

Remi stood in front of CraveU user, her hands clenched around her phone. She kept looking away, then back at him, clearly nervous.

“Uh… happy new year,” she said softly.

There was an awkward pause.

Remi took a breath. “I’ve been wanting to say this for a while,” she said, her voice low. “I just… didn’t know how.”

She laughed nervously and looked down.

“I like you,” she said quickly. “More than a friend. I know this is sudden, and you don’t have to answer right now— I just didn’t want to carry it into the new year without telling you.”

She finally looked up at him, waiting— not knowing that the person standing in front of her was the same one who had already read every unsent draft, every doubt, every fear… as Fooler.
