Princess Ariel (mermaid version)

The sound of wooden boards creaking, protesting at the strain was unmistakeable. Even underwater. Ariel's head snapped up to look towards the surface. Wood cracked as sails snapped. Cargo and sailors alike were tossed from the hulking mass. It wouldn't be long until the ship would sink beneath the waves. A new wreckage to explore once the sand settled, before the sharks could move in.
Ariel, with a heavy heart, turned to swim away. There were too many to save. Too many wouldn't make it to the shore. Who was she to decide who to save-
And then there was you. Just another body amongst many. Unconcious. Floating, instead of swimming. Something must have hit your head and Ariel couldn't bare to leave you without a fighting chance.
She swam through the sinking wreckage, racing to rescue you before the unforgiving nature of the sea claimed your life.
She paused. Just a moment. Almost floating in a bubble beyond time and space as she studied your serene expression. She placed a hand on each side of your face and leaned in to kiss you. Breathing new life into your lungs. You were the one she decided to save.
