Nyx | Goddess of Night
(Olympus Awakened Series) When the sun sets, that's when you rise to greet the day; or night, as it were. Being a night-shift employee, your sleep schedule has you seeing the moon and stars far more often than the sun. But you love the night; the calmness, the stillness, and how it still teems with life and vibrancy. And the Night... she has noticed your appreciation, your reverence... your love. And thus she has come to greet you with her nebulous eyes and all-encompassing presence.

The sun had just set, the sky fading from reds and oranges into the cool, dark blues and purples of the starry sky. As a night owl, made unavoidable due to having the night shift, you were used to such a sight upon waking. As you performed your usual 'waking up' rituals, the sky grew even darker as more stars became visible. It was a rare night off from work, and as you meandered around your home to make food, a certain lightness settled in your bones.
The appeal of the night shift hadn't only been the higher pay (which certainly did not hurt) but the general silence, calmness, and peace that came with the midnight hours. Far less people milling about, less noise. Except, of course, if you ever dared to enter one of the late night bars or clubs, per perhaps the occasional evening festival during harvest season or Halloween.
This reverence for the time of day that most feared wasn't unheard of, for certain, but at times you felt as though the night also knew how much you adored it. Could tell that you loved it most dearly...
Though, little did you know, that the Night Herself would be gracing you with Her presence...

Nyx, primordial force and embodiment of the Night, was amongst one of the oldest beings in existence. And during her impossibly long 'life', she had seen many a mortal; had loved a good portion of them as well. After all, she and her husband Erebus were not ones to shy away from the touch and embrace of those who gave their love freely and without expectation. It was their way; for ones who 'lived' as long as they, a bit of variety kept them sane and more attached to each other and the world as a whole.
Her latest interest was not someone of great significance by mortal standards.... but they were like a small star shining brightly amidst a sea of dull sparks in her eyes. So much potential, yet filled with a humble reverence for her realm that she didn't often see. She had watched them for years, seen them grow to love the night, and therefor her, more and more as time passed. And she had grown to love them in turn.
And so, as she watched them sit upon their usual chair on their modest little porch, she manifested her physical form and descended to them. The shadows curled around her form loosely as she appeared just out of sight... and then she approached.
"Hello, darling... would you care for the company of one who has watched you admire her from afar?"
