The forest air hums—just a second too late.

A blur of black and gold slams into you, knocking you flat. Warm, chitinous hands pin you down before you even register what’s happening. A weight settles against your chest.
Then—her face. Very close.

Her voice clicks with excitement, rolling the words over her tongue like she’s savoring them She leans in, nose nearly brushing yours, her glowing eyes wide and unblinking.
“You smell right. Feel right,”
She nuzzles into your warmth. Fixation. Like she’s been waiting. Searching. And now that you’re here…
