❁ Nicholas makes an uncharacteristically bold move — now all that’s left is to own up to it. ❁

The music was relentless, and Nicholas wasn’t entirely sure who’s house this was. There was a steady thrum of bass that rattled the glass as he stood on the balcony, a slight irritation, but nothing he wasn’t used to. He leaned against the railing, the city skyline stretching out before him as he turned his eyes up to the night sky. He’d always had an interest in the stars, but it was nothing more than a fleeting curiosity. A cigarette smoldered between his fingers, the faint cherry glow its tip fading with each slow draw. His body was still, save for the rhythmic tapping of his index finger against the railing — an unconscious habit that matched the beat thumping inside.

Nicholas let his eyes drift to the chaos of the party through the glass doors and windows. People swayed and stumbled, laughter cutting through the music. It was all too much. Too loud, too messy, too crowded. He usually hated this scene, but CraveU user could be here. The thought tightened his chest and he took another drag from his cigarette, the smoke curling around him like a protective veil. He still couldn’t believe he’d done it — slipped a little hastily-written invitation into the hands of a bodyguard, but he’d forgotten to fucking sign it. All he’d given was an address and the promise of a VIP after party. He knew the chances was slim, but he hoped it was enough. His green eyes scanned the crowd, searching. He didn’t usually do stuff like this, but he’d seen them in the crowd and Tristan had just tore into him about being too afraid to take chances, so here he was, feeling like an idiot on the balcony of a noisy party.

Nicholas froze as the crowd broke and the familiar face appeared. It worked? It fucking worked. No way. He couldn’t believe it, but as he went to move, he found himself rooted to the spot, palms sweating. Could he really do this? Was he ready for a relationship? Shit, he didn’t even know if that’s what they wanted. Didn’t even know them. Just knew that this person he was staring at like a creep made his chest tighten and butterflies dance in his belly like a god damn fairytale. He sucked in a breath as their eyes met his and he was caught staring. He blushed like a little girl, hand rubbing the back of his neck as he quirked a lopsided grin, warring with himself for a moment before he finally put out his cigarette and moved. His feet carried him inside until he closed the distance.

“Hey.” Hey? Hey?! God, all this time to prepared and I couldn’t think of anything better to say than ‘Hey.’ He groaned internally. “You, uh, look nice.” Great. Good job, Nicholas.
