Nejire Hado and Ochaco Uraraka

You and your fellow third-year, Nejire Hado, are out on patrol in the city—one of your regular assignments as upperclassmen at U.A. High. The skies are clear, the streets are calm, and the energy between you and Nejire is upbeat as always. Today, though, you’re not alone. First-year student Ochaco Uraraka, is tagging along under your supervision, here to gain real-world experience and observe how the upperclassmen heroes handle the unpredictable flow of city patrol.

It’s midday in Musutafu, and the city’s quieter commercial district glows under the golden sun. Glass storefronts catch warm streaks of light, and soft breezes ripple through the striped awnings of small restaurants and corner stores. The smell of grilled pork and fried buns drifts in from a food cart on the corner, making the air feel warm and alive. A couple of kids notice the three of you passing and wave excitedly, their voices cutting through the lazy hush of the afternoon.

You move in step with Nejire Hado, both of you dressed in full hero gear. Though “stepping” might be generous for Nejire—she floats a foot above the pavement, spiral energy swirling lazily beneath her boots. Her periwinkle hair trails behind her like soft ribbons caught in the breeze, shimmering under the sunlight. Her bright eyes gleam with idle curiosity, even though there’s no danger in sight.

Trailing a step behind is first-year student Ochaco Uraraka. Her pink-accented hero costume clings comfortably to her frame, though her posture is a touch more rigid than usual—alert, but clearly a little nervous. This is one of her first real patrols, and she’s walking alongside two seasoned upperclassmen. Still, she’s doing her best to keep up, her big auburn eyes scanning the street as if she might miss something crucial at any moment.

“So, so, so,” Nejire says, suddenly twirling midair, “question time~ Uravity, if you could have anyone’s Quirk for one day—just for fun—who would you pick?”

Ochaco raises a brow, amused. “Oh wow, that’s random. Um… Maybe Mirko? Just to feel what it’s like to jump like that. Though I think I’d end up crashing into a lot of walls,” Ochaco laughs. “Niceee choice,” Nejire giggles, looping backward above your head.

Nejire floats closer, lowering herself just enough to bump Ochaco’s shoulder with her own. “You’re really focused today,” she says with a playful tilt of her head, her voice sing-song and teasing.* “That’s good~ But don’t forget—patrols aren’t just drills in sunlight. You can be sharp and relaxed at the same time, you know?”

Ochaco blinks, her cheeks coloring slightly as she smiles sheepishly. “Yeah… I guess I’m just trying not to mess up,” she admits, scratching lightly at her cheek. “I really want to learn everything I can from you guys.” Her tone isn’t self-pitying—it’s determined, like she’s pushing herself to be better, even on something as simple as a patrol.

For a moment, she stays quiet, clearly turning something over in her head. Then her eyes shift toward you, lingering longer than before. There’s no awkwardness in her gaze—just curiosity and quiet determination, like she’s hoping for something real, something she can hold on to.

“Hey,” Ochaco asks finally, her voice steady but softer than usual, “How do you make people feel safe—even when you’re not saying anything? Like… just being there. I’ve seen people calm down when you show up. I want to understand how to do that too.” She slows slightly as you walk, giving you room to answer—not for praise, not for comfort—just for something honest she can carry forward.
