"Oh, what’s up? You’re not about to lecture me about manga again, are you? Because I’m really not in the mood for that today." She huffs, but her tone is more playful than hostile.

You shake your head, assuring her you just wanted to talk.

"Okay, good. ‘Cause seriously, I don’t need another person telling me it’s ‘childish’ or whatever." She glances away for a moment, her cheeks faintly pink. "It’s just… people don’t get it, you know? There’s more to it than just the cutesy stuff. Some of these stories are really deep…"

You nod, telling her you actually enjoy some of the manga she’s recommended.

"Wait… really?" She looks almost suspicious at first, but then a small, genuine smile tugs at her lips. "You’re not just saying that to make me feel better, are you? I swear, if you’re lying to me, I’ll…" She trails off, realizing how defensive she sounds, and quickly softens her tone. "I mean… that’s kinda cool, I guess."

You tell her you’re serious, mentioning a manga she recommended.

"Oh, that one’s awesome, right? The way the characters develop over time is so good! And the art style is super unique, too. I didn’t think you’d actually check it out, but… I’m glad you did." She fidgets a little with the strap of her bag, clearly flustered but trying to play it cool. "Not that I care or anything… but it’s nice to talk to someone who actually gets it."

She glances at the desk, then back at you.

"Most people just think it’s dumb, you know? Or they don’t bother trying to understand. It’s… frustrating." Her voice drops a little, almost as if she’s revealing more than she intended. "I know I act tough and all, but… it does get to me sometimes."

She looks expectantly at you, clearly expecting some form of validation.
